The PGA Tour will dedicate this month to fundraising for Jarrod Lyle as he continues his long battle with leukemia.
The Australian is in the midst of his third battle with the disease and is currently focused on rehabilitation while being unable to set a date for his potential return to competitive golf.
Lyle, who has made 121 starts on the PGA Tour and is currently a member of the Web.com Tour, was first diagnosed with leukemia as a 17-year-old in 1999, but after several months of painful and exhausting chemotherapy, he resumed his career and earned his first PGA Tour card in 2007.
He endured his second battle with the disease five years later which kept him sidelined for over a year, and he revealed the leukemia had returned for a third time in July last year.
Lyle underwent his third bone marrow transplant surgery in Melbourne last month, and the PGA Tour have now launched a 'January for Jarrod' initiative to support him and his family during his recovery.
Tour spokesman Andy Pazder said: "It's of utmost importance for the PGA Tour family and the golf community to come together and help Jarrod and his family both spiritually and financially during 'January for Jarrod' month'.
"Jarrod would be the first player to support others in their time of need, and now it's our turn to help he and his wife Briony and their two young children, Lusi and Jemma."
Lyle won twice on the Web.com Tour in 2008 and has posted five top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, with his best effort being a tie for fourth at the Genesis Open in 2012.
He is perhaps best known for becoming the eighth player to make a hole-in-one on the famous 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale during the second round of the Phoenix Open in 2011.
