Robert Garrigus just missed out on being only the second player in PGA Tour history to make a hole-in-one at a par-four with this amazing shot at the Phoenix Open.

Robert Garrigus came agonisingly close to becoming only the second player in PGA Tour history to make a hole-in-one at a par-four with a near-perfect tee shot in Phoenix.

Garrigus could not afford any mistakes as he stood on the 17th tee at TPC Scottsdale right on the cut line at one under par, but he suddenly jumped to three under and could have been one shot better with a more fortunate break.

His powerful fairway-metal from the tee at the 318-yard penultimate hole pitched short of the green and bounded towards the flag, hitting the pin flush in the middle.

Richard Green made one of the most amazing aces ever caught on camera in 2015.

But his ball refused to drop and Garrigus had to settle for the easiest of tap-in eagles, leaving Andrew Magee as the only man to have recorded a rare albatross ace on the PGA Tour.

Magee achieved the feat in bizarre circumstances on the very same hole in the 2001 Phoenix Open. Magee's drive was heading for possible trouble and headed towards the group ahead, but his ball took a lucky deflection off Tom Byrum's putter which diverted it towards the hole ... and in!

Aaron Baddeley did manage to hole his tee shot at the par-four 17th at the Valero Texas Open in 2015, but it was actually for birdie after his initial drive had ended up in an unplayable lie.
