Justin Thomas incurs the wrath of the fans on the 16th in Phoenix

Justin Thomas found out how unforgiving the fans can be on the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale as he lost his cool towards the end of the first round of the Phoenix Open.
Thomas arrived on the tee at the infamous par-three stadium hole in high spirits having just reeled off three consecutive birdies to get to six under par and within a shot of the lead.
But his mood turned sour moments later when he came up short with his tee shot, and a cacophony of disapproving noise from the 20,000 fans in the stands echoed around Scottsdale when his ball dribbled into the front-left bunker.
The PGA champion then compounded the error when he bladed his escape attempt over the back of the green, and the volume of jeers intensified when he threw his sand-wedge at his bag in frustration.
And the boos didn't finish there as Thomas left his lengthy par attempt five feet short and then missed the bogey putt, and his relief at finally holing out for an ugly five was evident.
Thomas then made another huge mistake at the 17th when he got too aggressive with a 50-yard pitch and watched in horror as his ball trundled off the green and into the water hazard.
