Justin Rose holes a stunning eagle from the fairway to move up the leaderboard at the Valspar Championship

Justin Rose fired a shot-of-the-week contender on his way to making a significant move up the leaderboard at the Valspar Championship.

The Englishman began the third round three strokes off the pace on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, only to make a fast start with back-to-back birdies from the third.

A missed par-save from seven feet at the seventh saw Rose reach the turn in 35, before the world No 5 drained a 40-footer to save par at the 10th.

Rose produced further magic at the par-five next, where he attacked the flag from 120 yards and saw his effort land straight in to the cup for a slamdunk eagle.

Further birdies at the 12th and 15th kept Rose in touch with Corey Conners, who maintained his overnight advantage as he chases a maiden PGA Tour title.
