Bernd Wiesberger lit up last year's Maybank Championship on day two as he made an astonishing NINE consecutive birdies to storm into the halfway lead.
The Austrian had made a quiet start to his second round and was level par after six holes before a birdie at the seventh ignited his spectacular charge up the leaderboard.
Wiesberger could not miss for nine holes in a row until his run ended with a disappointing par at the 16th, and he then bogeyed the next as he signed for a nine-under 63.
His birdie blitz would have been an official record for a European Tour event had preferred lies not been in play, while he would go on to finish two shots behind champion Fabrizio Zanotti after the Paraguayan finished birdie-eagle to snatch the title.
