The Open Championship have employed the services of Jet the falcon who keeps seagulls away from spectators

Royal Birkdale has already seen some impressive performances from star players at The 146th Open, but spectators may not realise how much work goes on behind the scenes to make the tournament a success.

Jet the Falcon - and his falconer friend - have been up early before many competitors and fans arrive, making sure the local gulls do not make a nuisance of themselves at the famous old course.

Sky Sports News reporter Charles Paterson gamely took on the role of falconer - click on the video above to see him meeting Jet.

As for the on-course action, Jordan Spieth holds a three-shot lead over Matt Kuchar going into the final day of The Open on Sunday.
