Report and highlights from Tommy Fleetwood's Open de France victory

It was a very strong and solid performance from Tommy Fleetwood to see him claim victory at Le Golf National. He had to control his emotions along an unbelievably tough closing stretch, but he passed the test and stayed calm and composed.

He was phenomenal from tee-to-green again like he has been all season, he put his ball in the right positions on the greens and took the chances when he created them.

I would expect him to carry on strongly off the back of this win. He knows he can contend with some of the best players in the world and if he can stay injury-free, he can really go on and start challenging for majors.

Tommy probably should have already been talked about in the group of world's top players, but this win just emphasises that even more.

He saw off Dustin Johnson in Abu Dhabi and chased him in Mexico when he finished second. With this massive win too, everybody now needs to give Fleetwood the respect that this golf absolutely deserves.

Victory sees him go above Sergio Garcia at the top of the Race to Dubai standings, and the amount of quality Fleetwood has shown us already this year means he deserves that lofted position.

I can't see Fleetwood not making next year's Ryder Cup team on merit. If he doesn't for some strange reason, then winning around here in the style he has done will tick a lot of boxes as far as Thomas Bjorn's concerned.

Tommy has got to be going out now believing that he has the potential ability to one day become the world's No 1. He's arguably playing the best golf out of anybody in the world right now.
