Rory MclIroy looked pumped for his opening singles match with Patrick Reed and he was into his stride very quickly, showing a deft touch from the greenside bunker to force Reed to hole his birdie putt.

MCILROY AND REED EXCHANGE BLOWS

A pumped-up Reed and an equally motivated McIIroy put on one of the most entertaining Ryder Cup single matches in recent history. The sheer class of both players was on full show at the eighth hole, where McIIroy holed out from 80-feet before Reed followed him in for a sensational half. The passion on show from both players sent the crowd into a frenzy.

WESTWOOD COMES TO THE PARTY

The Englishman had suffered two defeats in the opening two days, but he bounced back to form against Ryan Moore in his singles match. His round was sparked by this sparkling putt from distance at the ninth to draw the game level. However, despite leading two up with three to play, Moore roared back to win the last three holes.

Lee Westwood looks to have put the painful end of day two behind him with some wonderful putts in the singles.

SERGIO AND PHIL'S EPIC BATTLE

Phil Mickelson remains a fan favourite and his match with Sergio Garcia jumped off the page when the singles were announced. The match delivered on every front. Mickelson made 10 birdies but still couldn't shake off Garcia, who halved the game down the last with a nerveless putt.

MOORE WINS RYDER CUP

It will be a moment Ryan Moore, who was only picked as a wildcard a week ago, will never forget. He finished eagle, birdie, birdie to turn his match with Westwood on its head. Lucky enough for him, it was his point that got USA over the line. Cue celebrations on the 18th green.

Ryan Moore had two putts to beat Lee Westwood on the 18th and win the Ryder Cup for the USA.
