Peter Hanson: Playing away from home in the Ryder Cup is going to be a new experience

The 34-year-old was part of the victorious European team when he made his debut at Celtic Manor two years ago and he is now bracing himself for a hot reception from the American fans in Chicago.

"Playing at home last time was just amazing with the crowd behind you, so I think that's going to be one of the critical tests for our side," said Hanson.

"We discussed this quite a bit within the team room and we have got some boys in the team that played quite a few Ryder Cups over here, and we are trying to get as much information as possible of what to expect and how to handle the different situation playing over here.

"I've watched quite a few of the videos. Golf Channel have been very nice to show me all these over the last couple of weeks! It gets you revved up and gets you in a state of mind where you want to be coming into these matches."

Hanson won the KLM Open in Holland earlier this month despite his one-year-old son Tim being taken to hospital during the tournament.

Hanson added: "Tim is doing a lot better. They got out of hospital the Monday I got back home, which was nice. He's of course lost quite a bit of weight. He's turning two now in a couple of months, so getting stronger and getting back where he was before."
