Same Difference (16/1) denied Super Duty (11/2f) in a thrilling finish to the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase.
In a first-time visor, the Nigel Twiston-Davies horse crept into the race under a patient ride from Ryan Hatch as Super Duty and Becauseicouldntsee battled for the lead.
When the latter weakened having travelled well, the only remaining threat emerged from Romanesco (8/1) who had been held up a long way off the pace by Nina Carberry.
That one could never quite land a blow, though, as Same Difference headed Super Duty and just did enough to deny the game favourite
Alfie Sherrin (9/1) stayed on past beaten horses for fourth.
"I can't really put it into words - it's just unreal," said amateur rider Hatch. "He travelled okay, but I was always just slapping him, trying to get him to get hold of the bridle a bit more. He was in mid-division getting banged around and he didn't really like it.
"But on the second circuit, he started to see a bit more light and he grabbed hold of the bit. He's a superstar and he's given me an amazing ride.
"I didn't think I'd won. I didn't dare think I had won. But boy when they said 'number 13', I was fair relieved. I was over the moon."
