McGregor v Mayweather tickets on sale

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor face off in Toronto

Tickets to Conor McGregor's bout with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas in August went on sale on Monday.

Tickets for the fight went on sale at 6pm UK time on Monday, and could only be purchased two tickets at a time by 'verified fans' in an attempt to stop the fight selling completely to touts.

The cheapest ticket for the event is reported to be worth £385, while a front row seat cost £7706. Codes for the right to access tickets even sold for $200 on eBay prior to the sale.

Third-party websites have already begun advertising tickets for sale well in excess of face value at between £1871 and £76,000.

A spokesperson for Ticketmaster declined to confirm how many tickets would be sold on its platform on Monday but if any tickets remain on Tuesday they are expected to be made available to the general public.

Mayweather, 40, will make his return to the ring following two years in retirement to face McGregor on August 26, in the 29-year-old Irishman's first ever professional boxing bout.

McGregor is the reigning UFC lightweight world champion and in November 2016 became the first dual-weight UFC world champion in the history of the competition.

Mayweather heads into the contest undefeated with a professional record of 49-0, while McGregor has never been knocked out in his career either but has lost via submission on three occasions, the most recent of which was against Nate Diaz in March 2016.

The fighters embarked on a world tour to promote the fight this month, visiting Los Angeles, Toronto, New York and London where the two clashed over trash talking, building anticipation to the fight to fever pitch.

McGregor v Mayweather takes place at the 20,000 capacity T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, Los Angeles on August 26 and will be contested at super welterweight (154 pounds) with 10 oz. gloves.
