Chris Latham and Jon Dibben win bronze at European Championships

Great Britain took their their medal tally to five with two bronzes on the fourth day of the European Track Championships in Switzerland.

Chris Latham, 21, finished an impressive third in the elimination race behind winner Bryan Coquard, of France, and runner-up Simone Consonni, of Italy.

Jon Dibben, 21, then secured third place in a closely fought omnium. He finished the six-race event on 188 points, just three points behind runner-up Lasse Norman Hansen, of Denmark, and winner Elia Viviani, of Italy, who was given gold due to the fact he won two races.

Dibben told britishcycling.org.uk: "I came here looking for a medal, and maybe a win, so I'm very happy in the end."

Katy Marchant narrowly missed out on handing Britain a third bronze of the day when she finished fourth in the 500m time trial, which was won in world-record time by Russia's Anastasiia Voinova.

Meanwhile, Laura Trott is on course to win her third gold medal of the championships after taking a commanding lead of the omnium at the halfway point.

Trott finished second in the scratch race and then won both the individual pursuit and elimination race to move on to 118 points, 12 ahead of second-placed Amalie Dideriksen going into the final three races on Sunday.

Britain's previous medals at the championships were two golds in the team pursuits on Thursday and Trott's victory in the elimination race on Friday.
