Kyrie Irving scored a season-high 39 points as the Boston Celtics overturned a 22-point deficit to earn a 116-109 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns.
Irving made 13 of his 28 shots, including 6-of-13 from beyond the three-point arc, as his scoring pulled the Celtics back into contention in the game.
In the third quarter, with the Celtics trailing 59-37, he drove into the paint and finished with a trademark scoop that woke his team from their first-half slumber. Utilising an Al Horford screen, he then connected with a three-pointer.
In the fourth quarter, an arcing three-ball cut the Suns' lead to nine. Using strength and agility, Irving then hung in the air in traffic to finish a lay-up at the hoop before another three-ball pulled the Celtics within three with 40 seconds remaining.
After Marcus Morris' clutch three sent the game into overtime, Irving took over. He scored or assisted on every basket the Celtics scored in extra session, getting to the Suns' rim at will after bamboozling their defenders with his dribbling, to seal a 116-109 win that snapped Boston's two-game losing streak.
