NFL Fantasy tips for the Week 8 games
Thursday 29 October 2015 11:39, UK
Our US fantasy expert Alex Ferguson is dreadfully excited that he's top of the Sky Sports Pundits league and he is determined to stay there.
Todd Gurley rewarded anyone who played him last week with 163 total yards and two touchdowns. The rookie running back will be a fixture in many line-ups for the rest of the season.
Here is who else to look out for in Week 8.
Quarterback - Tom Brady (New England Patriots)
We feel stupid. We saw Brady's match-up against the great New York Jets defence, and we benched him in favour of Andrew Luck. Brady outscored Luck, and it could have been by a higher margin if Luck had continued to find receivers in opposite colours. But thankfully (for us) Luck rebounded, making me (a little) happier with his 23-point gainer (compared to 29 for Brady).
Running back - Todd Gurley (St Louis Rams)
As he promised during his (fit) days at Georgia, Todd Gurley's proving to be quite the rookie in St Louis. He scored the first two touchdowns of his career, and put up his third straight 100-yard game. He faces a San Francisco team that has given up an average of 113.3 yards (and seven TDs) against the rush this year.
Running back - Devonta Freeman (Atlanta Falcons)
We'd like to point out firstly that Tampa Bay's defence isn't that awful (their biggest loss at the start of the season was more Jameis Winston than their own play), but who can stop Freeman at the moment? The guy's a great receiver AND a great rusher. Tennessee managed to keep him out of the end zone last week (but not until he'd had 130 total yards) in an awful 10-7 game. We expect him to rebound against the Bucs.
Wide receiver - Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals)
We were thinking of not starting Fitz this week after his poor outing against Baltimore (3 catches for 32 yards), but he should rebound against an awful Cleveland defence that's given up 11 passing touchdowns and is really mediocre. Against a good QB like Carson Palmer, mediocre might struggle.
Wide receiver - Stefon Diggs (Minnesota Vikings)
Digs has put up two straight 100 yard games and is coming against a Chicago team which will probably try and stop Adrian Peterson before it stops Diggs....which could mean success for the rookie already being touted as a possible Rookie of the Year....
Tight end - Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots)
After deciding to go with Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers instead of Gronk last week, the big beer-swiller made me suffer with yet another TD. OK, I've been told. Gronk starts from now on.
Defence - Arizona Cardinals
The Cleveland Browns' offensive line leaks sacks like nobody's business, and it looks like Johnny Manziel is going to start this week against them. The Cards seem to have as many playmakers in the defensive backfield as they do in the opposing one, and will be looking to once again gobble up those interceptions.
Kicker - Steven Hauschka (Seattle Seahawks)
Hauschka's been very reliable for the Seahawks this season, and one of his advantages is that he's playing against Dallas in 'Jerry World', which is very kicker-friendly. If this game ends 3-0, we'll be less than happy….
