The Denver Broncos lost their unbeaten tag with a surprise defeat at the Indianapolis Colts as Peyton Manning was upstaged on his return, while the Philadelphia Eagles won in overtime to inflict a sixth defeat of the season on the Dallas Cowboys.
And it's not over yet! Previews to come, but first here's a look back on the live action so far...
Cleveland Browns 10-31 Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals improved to 8-0 with a comprehensive 31-10 victory over AFC North rivals Cleveland to kick off Sky's week on NFL action.
Three other teams remain unbeaten heading into Week 9 and two of them will be in action on our channels with the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos part of our coverage over the weekend.
Green Bay Packers 29-37 Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score, and the Carolina Panthers took an important step toward best record in the NFC once the play-offs arrive with a 37-29 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Newton completed 15 of 30 passes for 297 yards and ran for 57 yards on nine carries in one of the better games of his five-year NFL career.
The Panthers (8-0) extended their regular-season win streak to 12 games and put themselves in terrific shape in the NFC standings, where every other team has at least two losses.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns and led a furious fourth-quarter comeback from 23 points down, but couldn't complete it. Linebacker Thomas Davis intercepted Rodgers on a fourth-and-goal pass at the Carolina 3 with 1:54 left.
The Packers (6-2) have lost back-to-back games after starting 6-0.
Denver Broncos 24-27 Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning had the chance to rewrite the record books on his return to the Colts, but he was ultimately upstaged by Andrew Luck who threw two touchdown passes.
Manning didn't break Brett Favre's record for regular-season wins by a quarterback and fell three yards short of becoming the NFL's career passing leader.
Not even Omar Bolden's stunning 83-yard punt return for a touchdown could save the Broncos from their first defeat of the season as the Indianapolis Colts ended a three-game losing streak.
Philadelphia Eagles 33-27 Dallas Cowboys
The Philadelphia Eagles condemned the Dallas Cowboys to their longest losing streak in 26 years with a dramatic victory in overtime.
The Cowboys forced the extra period thanks to Dan Bailey's 44 yard field goal in the last seconds of the game, with his effort going over off the post.
But Sam Bradford threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews for the decisive play to move the Eagles up to second in the NFC East division.
Chicago Bears @ San Diego Chargers
Tuesday, 1:15am, Sky Sports 1 HD
The San Diego Chargers will aim to halt a run of four straight defeats when they host the Chicago Bears at Qualcomm Stadium.
Both teams suffered injuries to key offensive stars last week with the Chargers ruling wide receiver Keenan Allen out for the season with a kidney injury sustained against Baltimore while Bears running back Matt Forte is likely to miss the game after injuring his right knee against Minnesota.
Chicago will hope in-form wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey can continue his good form in Forte's absence. After missing four games with a hamstring injury, Jeffrey has totalled 263 yards and two touchdowns in his past two games.
After wins against the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs already this season, the Bears are looking to go 3-0 against the AFC West this weekend in San Diego.
