The Cleveland Browns have interviewed Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase for their head coaching vacancy.

Gase is the first candidate to speak to the Browns as they look to replace Mike Pettine, who was fired on Sunday, but there is plenty of interest in the 37-year-old, who has already talked with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was also talked about as a potential candidate when Pettine took over as Browns coach in 2014, but opted to stay with the Denver Broncos - he then moved on to Chicago before the 2015 season.

Gase is set to conclude a whirlwind round of interviews on Thursday when he is reported to be speaking to the Miami Dolphins.

Pettine was the sixth Browns coach to be dismissed since 2006, having overseen a disappointing 3-13 season, and general manager Ray Farmer is also leaving the franchise.
