Jason Garrett will return for an eighth season as Dallas Cowboys coach despite the franchise missing the playoffs in a season marred by off-field problems.

Star running-back Ezekiel Elliot served a six-game suspension beginning in November after he was adjudged to have violated the NFL's personal conduct policy.

The Cowboys (8-7) lost a playoff elimination game to Seattle last weekend and finish the season on Sunday at division champions Philadelphia.

But speaking on his radio show on CBS Dallas, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated Garrett will be back to lead the team again next year.

"I certainly know a lot about Jason Garrett," Jones said. "Because of that, I can very quickly and candidly say that he's not, his job is not an issue here at all.

"Let's basically not get into all the reasons why [we did not make the playoffs] and I won't get into all the reasons why not.

"Let's just say that it's not in the best interest of the Cowboys to be considering a coaching change."
