Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers to end their run of two straight defeats

Seattle Seahawks got their season back on track with a convincing 20-3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium.

The Seahawks have been the NFC representative in the Super Bowl for the last two seasons but were 2-4 after their first six games, having proven unusually susceptible to blowing fourth quarter leads.

However, they made no mistake in California on Thursday night and took their record to 3-4 with a fourth straight win over the struggling 49ers, who slumped to 2-5.

Despite vomiting on the side-line in the first half, running back Marshawn Lynch was back in prime form for Seattle, rushing for 122 yards and putting them into the lead with a one-yard first quarter touchdown dive.

Steven Hauschka added a 49-yard second quarter field goal and it was 17-0 at half-time after Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson hit rookie Tyler Lockett for a 43-yard touchdown.

The touchdown for Lockett, who had five catches for 79 yards, was his first as a receiver this season, having previously returned a kick-off and a punt for scores. He became just the second rookie since 2000 to record that triple.

Wilson completed 10 of his first 12 passes and finished with 235 yards but also threw a pair of interceptions and was sacked five times.

His opposite number Colin Kaepernick had a tough night against the Seahawks defence and was sacked six times, completing 13 of 24 passes for 124 yards.

Seattle defensive end Michael Bennett recorded a career best 3.5 sacks.

All the 49ers could muster was a third quarter Phil Dawson field goal and Hauschka then booted his second three-pointer of the night in the final quarter to complete the scoring.
