Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is hoping Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills can kick start their NFL season

Quarterback Blake Bortles is hoping it will be third time lucky for the Jacksonville Jaguars when they take on Buffalo Bills at Wembley on Sunday.

Jacksonville have played twice before at Wembley and are yet to win, and the Jaguars are desperate to get the season up and running after just one victory in their first six matches of the NFL season.

Their offense has been increasingly effective, with Bortles throwing 13 touchdowns passes so far this season, but stopping the opposition has been a problem.

"We've done some good stuff. We definitely have to improve on things but it's definitely an improvement on last year. The guys have got better each and every week," Bortles told Sky Sports News HQ.

The Bills are renowned for targeting the opposing quarterback and Bortles expects a physical afternoon on the hallowed turf of Wembley.

"Hearing from their guys and what they want to do, it's definitely reasonable to expect some more pressure," he said. "It's something they do really well. They do a lot of different things to try to confuse you. We will go in expecting anything, and adjust as it goes."

Buffalo's first choice QB Tyrod Taylor is ruled out of the game through injury, which means a start for EJ Manuel.

Bortles says that will not change the Jaguars' gameplan.

"I think we will approach it the same way," he said. "EJ will play for them and he's a good quarterback.

"We are going to approach it the same way offensively and as a team we are going to do the same thing.  This is an opportunity to get back on track this season."
