Le'Veon Bell is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, according to NFL.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back hurt his medial collateral ligament during his side's 16-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, compounding a miserable match for the Steel City men.

The injury is a significant blow to the Steelers, not least because their top running back was averaging more than 100 yards rushing-per-game this season before Sunday.

Free-agent Isaiah Pead will be brought in on Monday but is unlikely to start the Steelers' next game in Bell's place.

DeAngelo Williams is the likeliest candidate to replace Bell. He combined for 194 rushing yards and three scores in his two starts this season.
