Todd Gurley ran for two touchdowns and caught another - all in the first half - to help the Los Angeles Rams edge out the San Francisco 49ers 41-39 in a Thursday Night Football thriller.
Gurley put up the first points of the game inside 12 seconds, running in from three yards on only the second play of the game after 49ers quarterback Brian Hoyer was intercepted off the first.
Gurley then added a seven-yard touchdown reception later in the first quarter and ran in for another score before the half on his way 149 total yards on the night.
Rams QB Jared Goff, meanwhile, threw for 292 yards and three TDs, with the NFL's lowest-scoring team of 2016 looking a completely different outfit under first-year coach Sean McVay, posting 40 plus points for the second game in three.
The 49ers didn't roll over in the face of the Rams' offensive onslaught though - without a touchdown in their first two games, San Francisco kept pace thanks to a Hoyer TD run and a couple of Robbie Gould field goals to trail only 24-13 at half-time.
Then, much like Gurley dominated in the first half, 49ers running back Carlos Hyde took over in the second, running in for two scores, the second of which helped the home side close to within two points of the Rams late in the fourth quarter.
But San Francisco couldn't convert on the resulting two-point attempt to tie the game, and though they got the ball back once more from an onside kick, an offensive pass interference penalty and a fourth-down sack by Aaron Donald killed the game.
