Trevone Boykin released by Seattle Seahawks following abuse claim

Seattle Seahawks have cut back-up quarterback Trevone Boykin after an alleged domestic violence attack on his girlfriend.

Boykin, 24, is under investigation for aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, police in Mansfield, Texas, told Dallas-Fort Worth television station WFAA.

Shabrika Bailey detailed last week's incident to WFAA on Monday night claiming Boykin beat up and left her with a broken jaw wired shut.

Bailey said the incident happened on March 20 at her home in Mansfield after she refused to show Boykin a text message on her phone.

"So he goes into a choke," Bailey told WFAA. "I remember him choking me and I'm trying to calm him down. And I just couldn't. And I blacked out. I just couldn't calm him down at all.

"The pressure was just hard. The pressure got hard to where I just remember just collapsing completely. And I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood on the kitchen floor."

Bailey said Boykin then dragged her into the bathroom, took off her clothing and attempted to clean her up.

Boykin later took her to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, however, after the hospital staffers separated the two to ask questions, Boykin fled the scene.

Bailey was having trouble breathing from her injuries and was later airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for further treatment. She was released on Saturday.

Bailey was arrested with Boykin in March 2017 when she was the driver in a car which struck several pedestrians outside of a nightclub in a Dallas suburb.

She claimed the crash occurred because Boykin was attacking her.

"He leaned over, attacked me, and choked me unconscious which made the car go into drive to reverse," Bailey said.

Bailey said she didn't come forward at that time because she was scared and Boykin requested she did not say anything because it might hurt his football career.

She added the 24-year-old quarterback made the same request after breaking her jaw last week and she displayed the text messages from Boykin to WFAA.

"It just can't keep going on, he just can't get away with this, this is serious, this is domestic violence," Bailey said. "You can't keep doing this, it's not cool, to constantly, like, make me the victim and you get away with it.

"Something has to happen because right now (he's) just consistent with it. Like he can get away with it and nobody ever know."

Boykin has played in five games in two seasons with the Seahawks in 2016 where he completed 13 of 18 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
