The New York Jets have confirmed the appointment of former Miami Dolphins boss Adam Gase as their new head coach.
The 40-year-old replaces Todd Bowles, who was fired after he went 24-40 in four seasons and the Jets finished bottom of the AFC East Division.
An agreement between the Jets and Gase was reached on Wednesday night, and he will be presented to the media on Monday.
Jets chief executive Christopher Johnson said: "We talked to a number of excellent candidates and it became clear to me that Adam was the person who will help us establish a winning program and a winning culture."
Gase left the Dolphins at the end of this season, having gone 23-26 during his three years in Miami, and leading them to the playoffs in 2016.
Previously he worked as offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos, where he earned rave reviews from Peyton Manning.
Johnson said Manning had been so impressed by Gase that he personally recommended him as the Jets' new head coach.
The Jets met seven other coaches before choosing Gase: Mike McCarthy, Kris Richard, Jim Caldwell, Eric Bieniemy, Todd Monken, Matt Rhule and Kliff Kingsbury.
