Laveranues Coles has rejoined the New York Jets, while Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum have signed contract extensions.

Franchise resumes contract talks with cornerback Revis

Wide receiver Laveranues Coles has joined the New York Jets for a third time after agreeing terms on a one-year contract. The 32-year-old spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Jets after the franchise selected him in the third round of the 2000 draft. After two years with the Washington Redskins, Coles returned to New York for a second time in 2005 as part of the trade that sent fellow receiver Santana Moss in the opposite direction. The former Pro Bowler spent the next four seasons with the Jets before moving on to the Cincinnati Bengals last year, catching 43 passes for 514 yards and five touchdowns. However he was released by the Bengals in March and after a workout on Friday, the Jets decided to bring him back for a third stint. In his seven previous seasons with the Jets, Coles had 459 catches - ranking him fourth in Jets history - for 5,941 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Extensions

Meanwhile, the Jets have also finalised contract extensions with head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum that will run until 2014. Ryan has agreed to stay with the team for a further two years having led them to a 9-7 record and then within one game of the Super Bowl during his first season in charge. Tannenbaum has been with the organisation since 1997 and was promoted to the role of general manager by owner Woody Johnson in 2006. The Jets have also resumed contract negotiations with star cornerback Darrelle Revis, with the player threatening to hold out from training camp if he isn't handed an improved deal.
