Sky Live preview: Dallas Cowboys aim to stop DeMarco Murray and Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday 20 September 2015 22:46, UK
The Dallas Cowboys will be setting their sights on running back DeMarco Murray and the Philadelphia Eagles in week two of the NFL season.
Murray was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year with the Cowboys in 2014 and now prepares to play his former team at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
Murray, who gained 1,845 yards and enjoyed 12 100-yard games for Dallas last season, signed a five-year, $42m deal with Philadelphia in the off-season.
And he will be aiming to lead the Cowboys to a second straight victory after quarterback Tony Romo threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten with seven seconds left to hand the Cowboys a dramatic 27-26 win against the New York Giants on the opening weekend of the new season.
However, that victory came at a cost as All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant broke his right foot.
Bryant was injured in the second half after missing time in the first half because of dehydration in the comeback win. Owner Jerry Jones said Bryant would need a pin and could be out for up to six weeks. He underwent surgery on Monday.
Bryant led the NFL with 16 receiving touchdowns last season and started the year with more TDs than anyone in the NFL since coming into the league in 2010. His absence will be a big loss for head coach Jason Garrett.
Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley are likely to take on more of a role with Bryant out, and the Cowboys traded this week for Brice Butler, a 2013 seventh-round pick by Oakland.
Meanwhile, the Eagles squandered a 17-point half-time lead against the Atlanta Falcons in a 26-24 defeat on Monday night.
They will be aiming to deny Dallas a franchise record-tying 10th straight regular-season road victory, but the Cowboys have won three straight and five of their past six visits to Lincoln Financial Field.
The last team to win 10 or more away games in a row was Indianapolis with an 11-game run from 2008-09.
The Eagles seemed to be in control of the NFC East for much of last season but folded down the stretch as the Cowboys overtook them, although they eventually lost to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Playoffs.
Watch the week two game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys on Sky Sports 2 this Sunday from 9.15pm.
