One of the stadiums built for the London 2012 Olympic Games could be relocated to Brazil for the 2016 tournament.
Organisers are working on plans to reuse the 12,000 capacity basketball stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Plans were announced as Scotland Office Minister David Mundell visited Barr Construction who are responsibile for building the stadium.
The company, which is based in Paisley wasv visited by Mundell as Scotland's role in the Olympics was marked with 200 days to go.
The stadium, is the third largest of the Olympic park in east London standing 108ft high and 377ft long and plans suggest it will be dismantled next year and Barr would like to see it reused in Rio de Janeiro.
Interest
Barclay Chalmers, managing director of the construction firm said: "In this age of renewables and sustainability, we hope to move this stadium on to the next Olympics and perhaps reused after, which would be a tremendous thing.
"We will dismantle the stadium in January 2013 and find a new home for it.
"Rio would be our preferred option to be able to reuse it but, if not, there are other people who have expressed an interest in using it.
"Building the stadium has helped raise our profile by being associated with such a major event.
"It has helped us gain credibility across the UK and we are now able to point to this on our CV."
If the plans go ahead the stadium, which was made of steel fabricated in Dumfries, will be transported in stages with the opportunity for Barr to expand the stadium capacity to 16,500 should it be required.
