5.24 Wolverhampton - Kakirra chases hat-trick in opener
The opening race on Tuesday evening's card at Wolverhampton sees the in-form Kakirra bid to complete a hat-trick for Ollie Sangster in the Race And Rest At The Holiday Inn Handicap.
He has raced only five times, but all of those runs have come within a short period, starting in late February. He was gelded after his second start and, following a disappointing effort at Kempton on his first start, he registered his first victory at Bath at the beginning of last month, winning in convincing fashion.
Less than a week later, he dropped back in trip and followed up in good style, defying the penalty with some authority. He looks to be a progressive type and this lightly-raced gelding could have more to come.
Grindleton represents Daniel and Claire Kubler and gets the services of Oisin Murphy in his pursuit of a first success. He has racked up a good sequence of efforts in defeat and this new trip could see more improvement in him.
The rest of the field looks to be closely matched but with Port Darwin leading the challenge, producing his best form over this trip on his penultimate start, and Charlie Johnston will be hoping a return to the all-weather can see him in a better light.
4.30 Southwell - Jafimgoso takes on eight rivals
Jafimgoso will take on eight rivals in the Makers Market Mon 27th July Handicap Hurdle at Southwell for Harry and Dan Skelton.
This gelding is two wins from 10, doubling his tally last time out at Ludlow. His previous two starts had been over two miles but the step up to a little over two-and-a-half miles saw him in a new light, winning cosily at the line.
He is only seven years old and stepping up to three miles could see him eke out further improvement for the in-form Skelton operation.
Innisfree Lass is on the same mark as Jafimgoso with more experience, scoring on three occasions from 22 starts, including a course-and-distance success on her penultimate start. This will be her first start for Joey Ramsden after switching from Stuart Edmunds.
Danny McMenamin has not had many tries but makes the trip down to Southwell for three rides, looking to break his duck and could make his mark aboard Larkfield Lusive who should have benefited for his reappearance last month.
Jager Time has been an improver for the Fergal O'Brien team and she seems to have established a good relationship with retained rider Fern O'Brien. This seven-year-old could make a nice step forward for his reappearance last month and rates best of the remainder.
9.00 Wolverhampton - Study Up faces 5lb penalty
Father-and-son combination Billy and Mark Loughnane team up with Study Up in the Race And Rest At The Holiday Inn Handicap looking to defy a 5lb penalty incurred for his victory at Leicester last time out.
This gelding by Due Diligence had been winless since making a successful debut back in July 2024 and was yet to score for Mark Loughnane since switching from Clive Cox in December of last year. The step up in trip last time out proved to be a move that would bring out the best in him as he returned to winning ways and arrives here looking to follow up.
Roman Secret got the better of the re-opposing Arlecchino's Rex on her penultimate start, just holding on to score over this course and distance but she has subsequently disappointed. She seems to have been freshened up and if she can bounce back, she could give Study Up plenty to think about.
Arlecchino's Rex has racked up a sequence of placed efforts and looks sure to be on board once more for Mark Usher and Robert Havlin.
