O'Brien star set for Curragh

Starspangledbanner is a fascinating entry for Sunday's Refuse To Bend Solonaway Stakes at the Curragh. The six-year-old was a top-class sprinter in 2010 and has returned to training with Aidan O'Brien after a failed spell at stud. He finished last in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes on his return to the track but could step back up to a mile this time - a trip over which he won the Caulfield Guineas in his native Australia back in 2009. O'Brien has another intriguing possible in the line-up in the shape of Declaration Of War, who would be making his debut for the Ballydoyle team after winning twice in France last year. British interests could include David O'Meara's Penitent and the Mark Johnston-trained pair of Bannock and Fulbright. Nell Gwyn winner Esentepe would also be an eyecatching contender if she has her first run for David Wachman after transferring from the care of Richard Hannon earlier in the year.
