William Muir has weekend poser for Stepper Point

William Muir will burn the midnight oil weighing up as to which race this weekend to give his star sprinter Stepper Point a prep for the Prix de l'Abbaye.
The Lambourn trainer confirmed his five-year-old speedster will take his chance in either of Sunday's Group Three dashes - the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh or the Qatar Prix Petit du Couvert at Longchamp.
However, Muir will study both races before making his decision.
Stepper Point has yet to win a Group race but has shown himself to be the second best horse over five furlongs this year behind Sole Power, having taken the runner-up position behind the Irish ace in both the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Nunthorpe at York.
"I don't know yet. I'm going to take a look at both races and see. He's in great shape and would be fine in both places," said Muir.
"It's just whichever race I think is the right race to go for.
"I think we come out as good as any in either race and he's in great form. He doesn't mind the travelling and he doesn't mind the ground, so it's just what race I want to go for.
"I want to do a little bit of work on the races later and see where we go. I could declare for France tomorrow and then if push came to shove I could cancel France on Friday at 9.30am and declare in Ireland. I don't yet.
"The main thing is the horse is in good shape."
