Conditional jockey Joe Colliver was taken to Lancaster Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken arm following a fall at Cartmel.
The promising 3lb claimer, who had ridden a double at the Cumbrian track on Monday for his boss Micky Hammond, was injured when he was unseated from the George Moore-trained Erica Starprincess at the fourth-last flight in the Milner Boardman Patnership Mares' Maiden Hurdle.
That race caused a delay to proceedings, as did the opening contest following a freak incident.
One of the racecourse vets was kicked by a horse he was treating following the choosesouthcumbria.co.uk Handicap Hurdle.
"We have had a couple of injuries, which has caused delays while the emergency services were back in situ," said clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.
"Joe Colliver has gone to hospital with a suspected broken arm and one of our vets while treating a horse was kicked in the side. He is under assessment."
