Verdict
Now Luca Cumani has hit a bit of form it could pay to follow his runners and Spuridich gets the vote here with Ice Palace, and Dawn Piper rated as the main dangers. This son of Barathea is a top notch handicapper as he proved when beating Tug Of Love over a slightly longer trip here last season. You can ignore his final outing at Newbury as he finished lame in that valuable contest and against this class of opposition he can bounce back to winning ways. Ice Dancer is saddled with top-weight but warrants respect. He is a model of consistency and managed to win a valuable handicap at Kempton last season, it is difficult to envisage this one finishing out of the frame. Dawn Piper is the form, horse from this season having finished a gallant second behind Just A Glimpse at Warwick a fortnight ago, if the selection is ring rusty this could be the one to take advantage. Flighty Fellow could be the best of the northern challengers but Spuradich was very progressive last season and can start this campaign with a victory.
