In depth

Verdict

The weaker of the two divisions and an obvious chance for Turnstile to regain the winning habit at the expense of Cordial and Finland. Turnstile was a disappointment last time out so his backers will be hoping that Serbelloni can give a good account of himself in division one of this race. That said, this race does not look strong and Wylie's expensive purchase should be up to landing this. Finland is fully exposed and in fairness to the horse, he rarely runs a bad race. His BHB mark gives him little chance to shine in handicaps so the novice or selling route is his chosen path. Cordial was a prolific handicapper for Sir Mark Prescott and he has been sold out of the yard at the end of the flat season. He stays middle distances on the level so whether this will be another Inglis Drever is a question that we will realise within the ensuing five minutes. It could be a little late in the day for Big Bertha to start hurdling. The mare is taking her chances for Micky Hammond these days after leaving John Quinn. Caulkleys Bank is bred on more classical National Hunt lines. He can handle the surface and is watched in the market. The Wizard Mul and Field Spark are other recent flat converts to note in the market. Turnstile can account for a recent blip in our second race on the card.
