In depth
Verdict
Previous experience will count for a lot here and Countdown is fancied to put his to good use and hold the well-bred newcomer Emerald Lodge, who stands out on pedigree from the rest and could give the selection the most to do. Others to note in running include: Lucy Parkes, who is a half-sister to several useful sprinters and can be found a race in time, while One Great Idea is a half-brother to seven furlong performer Lucid Dreams and may benefit from the run today. The Mick Channon-trained Dikttatit is another that can come into her own in time but, as she needs to improve on her debut run, she is probably best watched today. Emerald Lodge makes plenty of appeal as one that can spoilt the party for the selection as she is bred to be effective at this trip. She hails from a yard that have a good strike-rate with their younger horses this season and a bold bid cannot be ruled out. However, Countdown sets the standard on what they have shown so far and, with this more demanding surface sure to suit, he has a cracking chance to get off the mark at the third time of asking.
