In depth

Verdict

The form of Puntal's latest outing can be safely ignored after he fell on the flat just before the halfway stage, before emerging unscathed for the experience. He completed a four timer in good style prior to that run and still has every chance of playing a strong hand here, despite being heavily penalised for his efforts. However, Magic Combination has a habit of spoiling the party for others in events like this and cannot be ruled out from a lenient looking mark. Taming is another to consider after landing a hat-tick in some soft races over the last couple of months and has every chance of maintaining his good run of form on today's terms. Spectrometer hails from a yard that is bang in-form and just receives the nod in a very competitive heat. He is adaptable with regard to the ground and the form of his reappearance run behind Bernardon reads well in the context of this race. Any support for Patriot Games on course should also be noted with interest.
