In depth

Verdict

Ispahan, Batchworth Place and Sonny Parkin make the shortlist here with Ispahan the selection. Sonny Parkin was a winner over the course and distance in August but has been winless since. However he has come down the handicap and races off a three pound lower mark here. After a couple of encouraging efforts recently, despite top weight, he can play a part in the finish. Batchworth Blaise lost his maiden tag at Brighton last time but he is not the most reliable type and that win came out of the blue. We will wait and see if he can reproduce that performance before recommending support. Ispahan has been in good form recently, winning by the narrowest of margins at Chepstow last time. That success followed a narrow defeat and Ispahan may be capable of shouldering a six pound penalty to victory.
