Verdict
This will almost certainly be run at break-neck pace, which is expected to suit the progressive Orpen Wide, who can get one over on elder rivals Majik and Saviours Spirit, who both arrive here in good form and will be hard to keep out of the frame. The same can also be said of Little Ridge, who despite being a little bit frustrating, has dropped to a very attractive mark. He is definitely one to keep a close eye on in the betting market. Currency also merits plenty of respect as a consistent performer that has solid claims on the best of his efforts. However, surprisingly for an eight-year-old sprinter, today marks only his second visit to this course, and, as he was well behind Majik on the previous occasion, he is probably best watched. The last mentioned, like the selection, has been on a roll of late and, with a 6lb rise in the weights imminent, he has to take his chance under his penalty this afternoon. However, Orpen Wide has far more scope for improvement at this stage of his career and, with his three-year-old's allowance aiding his cause, this son of Orpen can help his owner, Sir Clement Freud, to enjoy another profitable day at the races.
