Verdict
Yorker has been consistent enough lately without winning but can put matters right here at the expense of Sting Like A Bee and Quiet Reading. Yorker is a past course-and-distance scorer and has shown improved form of late, finishing second here on his last two outings. The first of those was over seven furlongs, but he was then put over a mile and a half, a strange decision given his past record. He has been touched off on a number of occasions and now that he is over what we reckon is his optimum trip, Debbie Evans' six-year-old can return to the winners' enclosure. His main rival could be Sting Like A Bee who was a beaten favourite on his last outing at Southwell. He though may once again find this trip a bit on the short side, and is likely to be susceptible to Yorker's finish. Quiet Reading is yet another that has been successful over track and trip in the past, and indeed won this race 12 months ago off a slightly lower mark. If Thunderclap turns out quickly following his win at Southwell just two days ago then he would be interesting as well, and the likes of Geronimo and topweight My Bayard are others that may figure in what is really a wide-open looking affair the more you delve into the form. For the winner we return to Yorker.
