PEARL CASTLE was cut for the Triumph after a rather workmanlike display in landing the odds and a rather tenuous line through the runner-up who was beaten by Tiger Roll at Market Rasen in November suggests that he has ground to make up in order to trouble the leading contenders. He was conceding weight, however, and his record on the level suggests that better ground would suit ideally so perhaps he may prove capable of better again in the spring. Zamoyski has progressed well on the level and is improving steadily over hurdles; he should prove competitive in handicaps assuming the assessor doesn't overrate this form. The same is true of Ronaldinho who proved his Cheltenham running to be all wrong on this better ground which suggests that he could be of interest in the Fred Winter assuming that conditions aren't too testing. There was also promise to be gleaned from the hurdling debut of She's Late who is entitled to benefit from this experience and those four pulled nicely clear of the remainder who were led by Mahican who hasn't gone on from his debut defeat of Mandy's Boy who, himself, failed to fire here.
