Rangi Chase has been named in Castleford's squad for Sunday's clash against the Dragons at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
Chase announced his Super League return earlier in the week after stints with Salford and Leigh during which he failed to impress.
The 30-year-old has since spoken about his mental health problems but says a return to the Tigers fold has helped ease the off-field issues.
"The last time I really enjoyed playing, it was at Cas," said Chase. "There's no better crowd and no stadium that's better.
"I miss those times and, when I got the chance to come back, I was never going to let it go. I'm so lucky to get a second chance.
"It feels awesome to be back. It feels like I'm coming back home, like I never left. I'm looking forward to it, I'm excited."
Chase will have his work cut out for him in his first outing back with the Tigers, with Joel Monaghan, Jake Webster, Mike McMeeken, Paddy Flynn and Tom Holmes all missing through injury.
However, try-scoring winger Denny Solomona returns to the squad, as do Ryan Hampshire and Will Maher, while Frankie Mariano comes back for the first time since his injury lay off.
Castleford coach Daryl Powell said: "We lost Jake, Joel and Mikey during the Salford game and they now join our injury list, so that's three on top of the injuries we've already got.
"We have got a number of players who are walking wounded who didnt train for the first two days this week so we are a little bit patched up, we have been for a number of weeks.
"So we have just got to fight our way through it and stay positive. Having the fans behind us is a massive boost for us here at home."
