Jarryd Hayne drew level with Bob Fulton as the most prolific try-scorer in World Cup history as Fiji routed the United States 58-12 in Townsville.
A member of the Australia team that lifted the cup at Old Trafford in 2013, Hayne marked his return to the Batis with one of their 11 tries.
It took his career total to 13 tries and came in a performance that makes Fiji clear favourites to reach the semi-finals for a third successive time.
Mick Potter's men never looked back after running in four tries in the first 14 minutes to blow away the Hawks and establish a 36-6 half-time lead in their Group D match.
Captain Kevin Naiqama, Suliasi Vunivalu and Taane Milne scored two tries apiece and others came from Henry Raiwalui, Viliame Kikau, Kane Evans and Akuila Uate.
Matt Shipway and Junior Vaivai scored tries for the Brian McDermott-coached US team, both converted by Bureta Faraimo.
