New Zealand coach Stephen Kearney has made three changes to his XVII for the World Cup Pool A match against Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
The injured second rower Sika Manu is replaced by Setaimata Sa while threequarter Krisnan Inu takes over at centre from the suspended Steve Matai in two enforced changes to the starting line-up.
Dene Halatau drops out of the squad to be replaced by Isaac Luke while David Fa'alogo takes Sa's place on the bench.
"Suspension and injury have kept Steve and Sika out but it's a comfort for us that we have quality players to bring in like Kris and David," Kearney said.
"And Isaac has kept pushing for a spot as well. It's a sign of the competition we have for places within the squad."
Kearney keeps faith in Wigan scrum-half Thomas Leuluai, whom he defended publicly after he was criticised for his role in the 30-6 defeat to Australia in their opening match.
Bai boost
Papua New Guinea gave England a real fright last week and Kumuls legend Marcus Bai has told the players they can go one better against the Kiwis.
Speaking at the club's final training session, Bai - a mainstay of the 1995 and 2000 World Cup campaigns - said: "Everyone is proud of the way PNG played last week against England but there is even more potential in this side.
"I see a real spirit in this side... something special."
Kumuls captain John Wilshere said the players felt privileged to be addressed by a former player regarded as one of the best the country has ever produced.
"Just what he has done for PNG rugby league - he is a legend of the game and it's humbling to receive his praise and encouragement," said Wilshere.
"It was a great thing to hear him speak and I know the guys were rapt to have him show up to training and give us his support."
