Highlights of the Super League clash between Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors turned on one of their best performances of the season as they beat Catalans Dragons 40-16 in Saturday's historic Super League fixture in Paris.

The match at the Stade Jean Bouin was put on to celebrate 20 years of Catalans being in Super League, but Wigan - a week on from Challenge Cup final success over Hull KR at Wembley - were far superior.

Jai Field, Junior Nsemba, George Marsden, Jack Farrimond, Jake Wardle, Zach Eckersley and Adam Keighran all scored tries for Wigan, with 17-year-old Marsden's effort a contender for try of the season.

Catalans scored three tries through Solomona Faataape, Zac Lipowicz and Chris Satae, but the latter also managed to get himself sin-binned on the half-hour for intentionally giving away a penalty after disagreeing with a knock-on call against him, using up the Dragons' only captain's challenge in doing so too.

Wigan made hay against 12 players, scoring three tries with Satae off the park for a half-time score of 30-6. From there, there was no way back for Catalans on what should have proven a day of great celebration.

Nsemba: You could say I'm in the form of my career

Player of the match Nsemba to Sky Sports:

"It's amazing, it's great to play with the group.

Also See:

"We wanted to back up last week [Challenge Cup final victory] and not be a one-day team. We did that today.

"In previous years, we've been pretty bad the week after a Challenge Cup win.

"Yeah you could say that [form of his career]. I just need to keep doing what I'm doing, listen to the coaches, and I'm still young so I have time to reach my peak.

"All I know is carry and tackle, so if I can get a bit of a pass to my game, it would add to it."

Peet 'so proud' of young half-backs Marsden, Farrimond

Wigan head coach Matt Peet to Sky Sports:

"Very happy with that. We knew it was a tricky game, after Wembley and in France.

"I would have taken a one-point win, so to win in that manner is very pleasing.

"You know coming out of Wembley what teams are going to be saying about you. Catalans are a very proud team and so the start was very important.

"We had to match their physicality and kick well.

"That brought some of the uncertainty around the game today, that we had inexperienced halves coming into a fixture like this.

"They [Marsden, Farrimond] managed it really well and both defended tough. I'm so proud of them and it's a great reflection on the club."

Cartwright: I'll learn a lot from today - 'our own worst enemy'

Catalans Dragons head coach John Cartwright:

"I'll learn a fair bit about the team after today.

"The coaches have been saying all year there are periods in games where we give up big chunks of points.

"It was pretty much a carbon-copy today.

Satae

"We were our own worst enemy in the first half. We got back to 12-6 and from then it was drama, letting in three tries in that 10-minute period [Satae in sin-bin].

"Wigan are a great side. They held us out and came out with momentum. That's what we need to do.

"You won't beat many teams playing like we did today."
