Super League investment talks: NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo in the UK for discussions - follow latest on Sky Sports

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has flown into the UK for face-to-face talks over investment in Super League. 

The NRL have continued to be linked to a major takeover deal with the Super League with a view to addressing the competition's salary gap while maximising its global presence.

Abdo will be live in the Sky Sports studio from 7.30pm to discuss what the NRL's offer to Super League looks like, and where talks are heading.

Rugby League Commercial Managing Director Rhodri Jones will then join the Sky Sports team following the match between Hull FC and St Helens, live on Sky at 8pm.

Speaking in Las Vegas earlier this year, Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V'Landys told Sky Sports club owners would need to give up control were NRL to invest in Super League.

"What I'd say to them is, I can stop you putting money in and I can make your investment a lot better, but you're going to have to give up control because it's not working," V'Landys told Sky Sports.

"At the end of the day, look at the model and tell me if it's working. Look at the NRL in comparison, which is completely independent, and it's chalk and cheese.

"What I want to do to those Super League club owners is that they don't have to put their money in their pocket - I want to give them return on their investment rather than them continuing to bleed losses.

"In order for them to do that, they're going to have to faith in us and faith in an independent model. That can put a time period or a sunset clause in there, but I can tell you I'm very confident that they'll be much better financially than they are now."
