Warrington Wolves v Wigan Warriors: Super 8s preview
Last Updated: 21/08/15 10:37pm
Warrington are in desperate need of a victory when Wigan visit the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night.
The Wolves trail fourth-placed St Helens by eight points after back-to-back defeats in the Super 8s, having suffered a last-gasp loss at Castleford last weekend.
The Wolves were 17-6 winners when they hosted Wigan on July 2 but they are without the injured Rhys Evans, who misses out with a shoulder injury. Gareth O'Brien replaces him in Tony Smith's 19-man squad.
Wigan coach Shaun Wane has called up youngster Oliver Gildart for the first time. Gildart, the son of former Warrior Ian, has scored 17 tries in 14 appearances for the club's academy side this season and had a spell on loan at Salford.
"Oliver has trained with the first team for some time and I'm happy to put him in at centre, but Joel Tomkins and John Bateman can play there too so we've got some options," said Wane.
Taulima Tautai remains sidelined with a leg injury but Michael McIlorum and Dom Crosby could both feature.
Warrington Wolves: Roy Asotasi, Ryan Atkins, Daryl Clark, Ben Currie, Brad Dwyer, Ben Harrison, Chris Hill, George King, Joel Monaghan, Richie Myler, Gareth O'Brien, Kevin Penny, Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford, Chris Sandow, Ashton Sims, Ben Westwood, Gary Wheeler, Sam Wilde
Wigan Warriors: John Bateman, Matty Bowen, Josh Charnley, Tony Clubb, Dom Crosby, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Oliver Gildart, Ryan Hampshire, Dom Manfredi, Michael McIlorum, Lee Mossop, Sean O'Loughlin, Larne Patrick, Sam Powell, Matty Smith, Ryan Sutton, Joel Tomkins and George Williams.
