Warrington slipped to a third straight Super League defeat as Stefan Marsh reached a milestone in Widnes' 30-10 derby win at the Select Security Stadium.
Marsh scored twice to pass 150 career points early in a fiery local squabble that featured sin-binnings, injuries and even the threat of an abandonment when a flare was thrown from the away end, forcing referee Robert Hicks to take the players off.
Warrington had just opened the scoring through Ben Westwood when that incident occurred early on, but that was about as good as it got for the visitors, who trailed 14-6 at the break and went on to ship three more tries during an ill-disciplined second half.
It looked as though ref Hicks might abandon the game altogether when he gestured to the crowd as he led the players off just six minutes in, but after a short delay play resumed with Gareth O'Brien converting Westwood's try.
Widnes' response was swift, a Marsh burst paving the way for Rhys Hanbury to tee up Cameron Phelps, who later left the field with a head injury.
By that stage his side were in front, Marsh touching down from Kevin Brown's kick, and the centre then brought up that career landmark thanks to a super long pass from Hanbury.
Jack Owens missed the conversion and followed that up with another wayward goal attempt moments later, but Widnes never looked like paying for those misses as they resumed control after half-time.
Lloyd White benefited from Brown's brilliance to score on his return to the side and, with Westwood in the sin bin for persistent infringements, creator turned scorer as the skipper picked a path through Warrington's weakened defence for a converted try.
Widnes then paid for some ragged discipline of their own as Tickle's temporary dismissal allowed Ben Currie to cross in the corner, but the final word was theirs as Owens capped an improved second-half kicking display with a try two minutes from time.
