England manager Martin Johnson insists the road to the 2011 World Cup starts in Perth on Tuesday.
England get their five-match tour of Down Under underway against a strong Australian Barbarians side at the ME Stadium.
And despite hinting at his side for Saturday's first Test against Australia with his selection for the opening friendly, Johnson claims places remain up for grabs.
British & Irish Lions duo Lee Mears and Ugo Monye are among the starting XV with Joe Worsley on the bench.
There is also a wealth of experience with Charlie Hodgson, Olly Barkley, Mathew Tait and Delon Armitage combining in a potent looking backline.
The forwards have four uncapped players, with Dave Attwood, Geoff Parling, Dan Ward-Smith and Hendrie Fourie out to impress.
And Johnson admits that with the World Cup fast approaching on the horizon, Tuesday's side have the chance throw down a marker for a Test place.
"This team represents England," said Johnson.
Chance
"We are England, we are playing against Australia A side. I told the guys at the start, this is not a Saxons game.
"Ugo and Lee played Tests for the British and Irish Lions last summer and Joe was involved. There is experience there, good players in this team.
"This starts the process for 2011. I have talked to the guys about attitude and the dynamics of how things work. There are 44 here and they have to squeeze into a 32 for the next elite squad.
"Everyone knows that and these guys have the first chance to wear that shirt on Saturday."
England will take on a strong-looking Baa-Baas team, with Berrick Barnes pulling the strings at fly-half and Stephen Hoiles driving the pack.
A total of 10 capped players have been included by coach Robbie Deans, including hooker Huia Edmonds, who started against Fiji on Saturday.
