Gary Botha will come in for Chiliboy Ralepelle at hooker for the Bulls, who host Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
As ever, lock Victor Matfield will skipper the side, which will include Dewald Potgieter and Francois Hougaard, who have each overcome minor injuries.
Francois Brummer replaces Jaco van der Westhuyzen on the bench in the only other change for the home side.
Saturday's game will be the first time the Bulls face the Chiefs at their home ground since they recorded a 61-17 win in the 2009 Super 14 final.
It will also be the first time that the Bulls will wear predominantly red jerseys as part of an awareness campaign for one of their sponsors.
The union has also decided to give away 500 tickets to Orlando residents to celebrate a landmark occasion when the Bulls played Super Rugby games in the Soweto suburb for the first time a year ago.
Sivivatu doubt
Chiefs coach Ian Foster has named a largely unchanged starting XV to face the defending champions in Pretoria.
All Blacks winger Sitiveni Sivivatu, who was a late withdrawal from the Lions game last weekend with a hamstring injury, has been bracketed with Save Tokula on the wing in the only possible change to the run-on side.
Sivivatu will be given until game day to prove his fitness.
There are changes on the bench with Sona Taumalolo and Isaac Ross returning while Jackson Willison is bracketed with Tokula.
The game against the Bulls is the 100th for the Chiefs under coach Foster.
The Chiefs, fresh from a narrow win over the Lions in Johannesburg last week, face the misfiring Bulls whose hopes of successfully defending their title are fast disappearing after a sorry run of results on their Australasian trip.
Like the Hurricanes, the Chiefs are now left with playing the role of spoilers, but a win at Loftus Versfeld will help lift the spirits.
