The Cheetahs reached the play-offs last season, but their 2014 campaign got off to the worst possible start with a 2120 loss to the Lions.
However despite the shock defeat, Drotske has made just the one change to his match-day squad - with Hennie Daniller replacing Rayno Benjamin on the bench.
The Bulls also lost their opening game of the new season, going down to the Sharks in Durban.
And Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has made one change to his line-up, with Grant Hattingh preferred to Paul Willemse in the second row.
Flanker Deon Stegmann is sidelined with a groin strain so Jono Ross retains the No 6 jersey, while Piet van Zyl and Marcel van der Merwe are set to face their former team-mates for the first time since moving to the Bulls.
