Chiefs coach Ian Foster has reshuffled his pack ahead of ahead of Saturday's Super 14 clash with the Cheetahs in Kimberley.
Ben May switches to loosehead prop while James McGougan is called-up at tighthead for the Chiefs opening contest of a three-match South Africa tour.
In the second-row, 27-year-old lock Kevin O'Neill returns to the starting line-up.
New Zealand Sevens star Tim Mikkleson will make his Super 14 debut on the right-wing.
Mikkleson was called into the Chiefs squad for the South Africa trip to provide cover for injured wings James Wilson and Lelia Masaga.
On the left-wing, Dwayne Sweeney will start again in the absence of All Black Sitiveni Sivivatu.
The Cheetahs caused the upset of the season last weekend when they defeated the table-topping Sharks and Foster is not expecting an easy ride when his team travel to Kimberley.
"All of us are looking forward to our first game in South Africa. We've travelled well and are keen to get back on the park," he said.
"We are expecting a huge battle with a Cheetahs team that would have grown in confidence after their big win over the Sharks last weekend."

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has not made any changes to the side that shocked the Sharks in Bloemfontein.
Bjorn Basson keeps his place on the wing after an impressive showing against the Sharks, while Kobus Calldo also retains his position at tighthead prop.
The Cheetahs are currently bottom of the Super 14 table and will be looking to maintain the momentum they picked up last weekend with another victory.
