Former Queensland Reds No.8 Ezra Taylor will make his Connacht debut against the Dragons on Saturday.
Scrum-half Frank Murphy has been handed the captaincy, while Irish internationals Sean Cronin and Gavin Duffy make the return following their tours with the national side. Cillian Willis and Rob Sweeney will start the match on the bench.
Luke Charteris has handed the captaincy for the Dragons' trip to Galway.
With regular skipper Tom Willis missing from the squad, the Wales lock steps in and partners new signing Scott Morgan in the second row.
Fellow new boy Robin Sowden-Taylor will start on the back-row, with experienced Kiwi Danny Lee named at scrum-half.
Matthew Jones' inclusion at fly-half mean Jason Tovey moves to full-back.
